Baguio's Top Fashion Storyteller Maila Alog and Dcp Dazzle at Catwalk Ph 2025

Quezon City, Philippines – The SM City North EDSA SkyDome was the epicenter of Philippine fashion on June 15, 2025, as it hosted the grand finals of Catwalk Philippines 2025. This year's event was particularly special, showcasing the collective brilliance of Designers Circle Philippines (DCP) and their highly anticipated collection, "DCP in REDUX: Vintage Reimagined."

Among the esteemed members of DCP, one of Cordillera's Top Designer and Baguio's very own top fashion storyteller, Maila Alog, played a significant role, contributing to the collection's resounding success. Her pieces, in particular, served as a masterful canvas for blending the opulent Gatsby-vintage aesthetic with the rich, authentic textures of indigenous handwoven materials. This innovative approach was lauded as a "challenging yet victorious blend of eras and cultures," demonstrating meticulous consideration of dark and simple patterns, beautifully contrasted with emphasized glittery effects, particularly for women, to capture the essence of the roaring twenties while celebrating Filipino heritage.

Maila Alog's prominent pieces featured Ilocos pinilian and abel weaves for both men's and women's ensembles, alongside a striking men's suit made with a full Ifugao weave. This commitment to championing local craftsmanship not only pushes fashion's boundaries but also provides a vital platform for indigenous communities, fostering sustainable incomes and preserving vibrant cultural traditions. The impactful presentation was further elevated by the "perfect models," including Neshiero Angelo Macawili and Ken Lucy, who brought the designs to life on the runway.

Beyond Maila Alog, the collective genius of Designers Circle Philippines was evident through the contributions of numerous other talented designers, including:

  • Rafael Gonzalez

  • Edwin Uy

  • Laura Santos

  • Bepz Torres

  • Jasper Adorador

  • Ganda Anore

  • Santa Emmanuelle

  • Joy Aaliwin

  • Alistair Balane

  • Rusty & Geoffrey Atelier

  • Joemel Calma

  • Will Salvador

  • Cliff D

  • Nino Ramirez

  • Louis Pangilinan

  • Johnny Abad

The grand finals also celebrated the next generation of Philippine modeling, with Earl Christian Lantin and Sherlyn Tarroquin named the ultimate male and female victors of Catwalk Philippines 2025. Other special awards included Mr. & Ms. Michaela, awarded to Timothy Lusabio and Aiah Lopez, and Michaela's Fan Favorite, which went to Neshiero Macawili and Anne Norella.

The entire event, captured by FirstSun Production and the designers themselves, was a testament to the power of authentic Filipino creativity, resonating deeply with the message of #HabiNotPrinted. This fusion of eras and cultures, especially with the prominent participation of Baguio's Maila Alog and the collaborative spirit of the Designers Circle Philippines, marks a significant moment in Philippine fashion, proving that tradition and innovation can indeed create a breathtaking harmony.
